Travel blog: Nordic Adventure from Finnsnes to Luleå
Day 1: Finnsnes to Mo i Rana
Our trip started on 20 June 2024 from Finnsnes, and we had planned a week filled with exciting experiences and beautiful nature. The first day we drove from Finnsnes to Mo i Rana, with a short stop to photograph majestic Stetinden. The drive was fantastic, even with challenging weather conditions over Svartfjellet, where strong winds and heavy rain made the experience more dramatic. After approx. After 10 hours of driving, including two charging stops, we arrived at the Sure Hotel by Best Western Ole Tobias in Mo i Rana. The scenery was impressive and made the trip memorable.

Day 2: Mo i Rana to Umeå
After spending the morning doing some shopping in Mo i Rana, we headed for Umeå in Sweden. We started with a stop at Esso to buy food before we started the trip. It was cloudy and slightly cold to begin with, but the weather became sunny and pleasant as we drove into Sweden. After approx. 7 hours, with two charging stops, we arrived at the Comfort Hotel Winn in Umeå. The hotel offered a deluxe room with a fantastic view of the city. We spent the evening exploring the streets and buying something to eat before going to bed.
Day 3: Umeå to Luleå
From Umeå we drove on to Luleå. The drive took about 3.5 hours and we had no need to stop for charging as we had charged the car overnight in the hotel car park. Before we left Umeå, we tried to explore the shopping mall by the hotel, but it turned out that it was a public holiday and most of the shops were closed. The trip to Luleå was pleasant, with the possibility of driving at 110 km/h all the way. On arrival we checked in at First Camp Arcus Luleå, where we had rented a cabin for the rest of our stay until 26 June.
Activities in Luleå and surroundings
In Luleå we visited a train museum right next to First Camp Arcus. It was a nostalgic journey back in time with old trains and railway stations.

One of the days we took a day trip to Skellefteå, a charming town with many cozy shops and cafes. Another day we visited a water park in Boden, where we had a lot of fun.
Culinary Experiences
On the penultimate day, we went into Luleå to explore the city. After a long day of sightseeing, we eventually got hungry and decided to eat at Panelet Steakhouse. I have to say, I was served the best pepper steak I have ever tasted. It was absolutely perfect, so big creds to Panelet Steakhouse for the amazing food!
Day 7: Return journey from Luleå to Finnsnes
The last day was spent packing and checking out of the cabin. We started the journey back to Finnsnes, with three charging stops on the way. The first stop was supposed to be at the E10 Bar, where we were looking forward to recharging and eating ice cream, but unfortunately we discovered that the entire bar had burned down three weeks before our trip. It was a disappointment, but we continued on. We stopped in Kiruna to buy some sweets and soft drinks, before continuing towards Norway. We arrived at the border and felt an overwhelming joy at being back in Norway again.
General Impressions
The whole trip was filled with exciting experiences and lots of good food, including many Max burgers in Sweden. A bit about the car: I drove a Ford Mustang Mach-E with a 400 km range and four-wheel drive. We had a total of approx. 8-9 charging stops the whole trip and drove approx. 2000 km. I am insanely happy with the car and how easy it is to plan trips with charging etc.
Final Tips and Advice
- Plan the charging stops : Especially in areas with limited infrastructure for electric cars.
- Be prepared for weather changes : The weather can change quickly, especially in the mountainous areas.
- Explore locally : Take time to experience small towns and natural gems along the way.
- Public holidays in Sweden : Remember that many shops may be closed on public holidays, plan accordingly.
Good trip! 🌍🚗
